A laboratory information system (LIS) is an application used to coordinate inpatient and outpatient medical testing. A LIS tracks and stores clinical details about a patient during a lab visit.
Why would you use an LIS? Because doing it traditionally (i.e. transcribing) can cause a lot of manual errors and takes a long time.
